Storage / LS520D RAID rebuilding randoml...

I have an LS520D NAS and it seems to like rebuilding the RAID for no apparent reason. It probably happens every 5 or 6 weeks, no other alerts or obvious symptoms. I only noticed because I caught sight of the flashing red LED.
Originally it had a pair of 2TB drives, after the second one failed I took the opportunity to upgrade them both to 4TB. I backed all my data up, destroyed the 2TB RAID, replaced the drives, formatted them and created a new RAID. I then restored all my data manually. I don't know that this rebuilding thing definitely wasn't happening before I upgraded the drives since I previously had the NAS positioned such that I couldn't see the LED, I moved it when I upgraded. I can't see anything in the SMART info which would suggest one drive is vastly different to the other, though I admit I don't fully understand most of the information I am seeing. These are my current values :

One extra bit of information: When the transfer speeds slow down, the webUI also slows down, so accessing settings becomes next to impossible to use. Again, restarting the NAS fixes it for a few hours, then it slows down again.

I have a TS1200 NAS external drive. My new location I am on a shared wireless internet service and no longer have a internet modem. Can I attach the DS1200 drive directly to my PC (Windows) ethernet port to get files off from it? I also still have my Linksys router but not been able to set it up to use the TS1200. Many thx in advance.

You only need to create the Network locations once and they persist

Storage / Buffalo NAS LS2208 Series file...

I am using NAS Firmware version 1.86, and NAS Navigator Version 3.12.0.
Using Nas Navigator I can create folders and set permissions, works great.
However, every time I copy a file from my computer and try and paste it into a new empty NAS folder it says "File already exists, do you want to overwrite it?" Obviously, I do not want to have to do this every time I want to copy a file to the drive.
When I investigate, I see the NAS has created a new 0 byte file with the name of the file I am trying to copy, so I suspect that is the reason I am getting the message. I do not understand why it is doing this and not just copying the file as I requested it to do.
IF instead I try and copy a file from one folder on the NAS to a different folder on the NAS using the same windows Copy and Paste commands it works fine.
Perhaps it is a router/gateway issue, I do not know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Storage / LS-WXL fails to reboot after f...
Last post by DJFramboise - January 10, 2026, 09:59:01 AMI have a Buffalo LS-WXL Linkstation. It wen into Emergency Mode some time ago. After a reboot and a reboot of my PC, it was/is sometimes visible (in EM) and sometimes not. I tried to update the firmware and this seems to succeed but then fails to reboot after installation. Linkstation then is not seeable in navigator. I have checked the disks and data appears intact. I'm not sure where to go next. Any suggestions?

Storage / LS210D incremental backup fail
Last post by was698002 - January 10, 2026, 09:25:14 AMLS210D doing incremental backup at night to LSCHL. Shows list of files sent which includes recent ones and shows nbr of bits consistent with sending the files. The files do not appear on the LSCHL. Where did they go?

If I force power off, and start it up, it's fast, but after a few hours, transfer speeds lower all the way to 2kb/sec. Restarting fixes it again, but doesn't matter what SMB mode I have on.
