Hi,

I recently upgraded my MAC to OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and I can not seem to wake up my Linkstation Live 1TB (LS-CHL) as I normally would under Leopard (10.5). I have the drive set to AUTO. When I have the drive set to be ALWAYS ON I do not have any issues. Normally I would go under Finder and locate the drive and then it would automatically connect to the drive as the admin. I have also tried to use the NAS Navigator software to scan and wake up the drive but no luck. I have the latest firmware on the drive and I also have the latest software. I do not have any issues when I'm accessing the drive via my PC so there has to be some issues with the LS-CHL and the latest MAC OSX 10.6. Anyone have any ideas on what i can do to get this to work?

I have the same Problem with my LinkStation Live (LC-CHL) and the SnowLeopard Update. The Linkstation not responding to my iMac, before i install SnowLeopard everythings works fine. But now the LS doesn't Start when i start my iMac. When my Windows PC makes an Backup and shutdown after the Backup, the LS turns off during the TimeMachine Backup from my iMac, the LS doesn't see that the iMac is still working. I think Buffalo must develop an update, fast!

Best regard

I have firmware 1.07 on my LS-CHL. After restarting my MAC I was able see the Linkstation. I'm not sure what happened but things see to be working now.

On a side note since I'm using my LS-CHL across various platforms (Vista, OSX) on which operatiing system should I update the firmware? I see that the latest firmware for Windows is 1.21 while for MAC it is 1.07.

thank you for responding so quick.

LS-CHLs with FW 1.07 are a different hardware than the LS-CHLs with FW 1.21. The 1.21 FW is not compatible with your 1.07 hardware. 1.07 and 1.21 have the same level of fixes, just different hardware.

After you restarted the Mac - the auto-on/off feature now works fully?

Ok, thanks for your response. So in following up with your response, I should not upgrade to the 1.21FW? Also if there is another FW update which operating system should I use to update it or does it not matter at all?

UPDATE: After restarting my mac the AUTO feature now works. I assume for now on it should work (hopefully) at least with my mac.

Have you rebooted your imac, after the 10.6 install?  Also, there is an update, 10.6.1 now out.

You might try the update and then check your auto wake function.

Same Problem after installing the Snow Leopard Update. The LS shut down, and my iMac NASnavigator are running.

I have exactly the same problem after upgrading to snow leopard. My windows machines are operating the linkstation properly and will wake it. Very frustrating

The same problem here too... OSx 10.6 and no wake up

Hi,

I'm having exactly the same issue. Auto wake up doesn't work anymore on 10.6 and 10.6.1 with my 1TB LinkStation Live with Bittorrent model (FW 1.07).

Honestly speaking I'm wondering if Buffalo still maintains the device as there hasn't been a firmware update for more than half a year now although it seems there are serious unresolved issues (like the one I experienced (and reported in another thread) where it is not possible to log into the web interface anymore).

Also I think vendors had enough time to test their hardware with Mac OS X 10.6 upfront and provide working versions of the drivers and tools. Obviously Buffalo didn't invest here.

@mods: Can we expect a fix for the current issue from Buffalo soon/at all?

Thanks for your feedback in advance.

Best,

Marc

Now 5 days are over and no one from the buffalo support team reported something in this threat.
