Are these the settings in your LSupdater.ini file? If not, back up that file and add these as shown below:

NoFormatting = 1

Debug = 1
right click the menu bar at the top and you should see a debug mode, you can check all the boxes. But this WILL wipe out any data already on it, quite possibly. I think the noformatting prevents it from formatting, but it also may not make the update work. That might need to be 0 and I bet yours is at 0 already.
Just be careful with these settings, because it can wipe out whatever is on the Linkstation.

Last post by Kane88 - March 14, 2026, 05:34:26 PMI don't know what the size limit is. I can say I have 18tb drives in my TS5400 and they work fine. It should handle at least that for the 5410. It's the older series like the TS3410s, TS3400s, TS-XEL, Linkstations and such that are limited to 16tb arrays. Or 16tb drives in JBOD mode.
You have to make sure your trays line up with the screw holes though. There are supposed to be SIX mounting holes on the bottom of the cages. But some of them only have 4, and one set of them are near the middle, which do not line up right for helium filled drives. You'll see what I mean if you flip a bigger drive over and compare the screw holes with the cage bottom.
You may wind up in a situation where you can only mount the drive to the cage with 2 screws on the bottom because of this.
Just be aware of this possibility, and look at some pictures of drives online first to see what you'll need to do.

Can you just move the data you need OFF of the drives (even temporarily), and just reformat them?
I forget how to reset the units to factory new, there is a way. As a last resort, you can also remove the drives and zero them out, but then they will not boot at all, and you will need to TFTP load the firmware back into the units (I posted instructions for TFTP here a long time ago), then they will be similar to factory new.
There was a guy with 0s and 1s for his nickname, I think it was 2600 in binary??? Maybe he can point you in the right direction. I think there's some way to put java on a pc and you sorta like telnet or ssh into the TS-XL device. Maybe that is what you need to do. I think he had me do it once, maybe it is in the old posts here, I do not know.
I am not that great with Linux permissions. This sounds like a chmod or whatever might need to be done through a shell or something, and that's a bit above my head. chmod is sorta like ntfs permissions, but for Linux.
Since the TS-XL units are Ext, you're going to have only the Linux permissions there, not windows.
If it was me, I'd copy the data off to another disk, and just reset to factory settings. That should wipe it all out.

Last post by Kane88 - March 14, 2026, 02:01:37 PMAlso, please note that SMB 1.0 is a *very* old protocol and it IS vulnerable to attacks. I think Windows shut off your access to that protocol with whatever updates that it did.
I would not use SMB 1.x with a daily driver Windows PC or anything mission critical, as it can leave your PC open to attacks. My advice is to get a second PC to access your linkstation, or build a VM to use to where you can share the Linkstation mapping between the VM and your main PC.

Last post by Kane88 - March 14, 2026, 01:48:24 PMMake sure you have SMB 1.0 and 1.1 enabled. Windows 11 updates should not affect your linkstation itself. You may need to access it using another machine or by using a virtual machine with something like oracle virtual box that is free.

Storage / Can't Access ls210DA0C
Last post by KevinPar - March 07, 2026, 11:35:07 AMI can see the LS210DA0C in NAS Navigator2, including the IP address. However, clicking Browse in Navigator doesn't open an Explorer window, or cause anything else to happen. I can't access it by name or IP address. I was previously able to access it and copy files to it, so I know the Share folder is set up. My computer is Windows 11 with all available updates. Turning off my computer's filewall (Norton) doesn't make any difference and the LS210DA0C is still inaccessible. What do I need to do to have it work like it should?

Last post by was698002 - February 18, 2026, 08:48:46 AMI have had 2 link Stations since win98, 1 backing up to the other. 1 died and I replaced it with new ls210d. Win 11 updated itself the middle of the night and now I can't access my Link Station. Windows says I don't have permission and won't accept any password or identity that I can think of. This is unacceptable and makes the nas useless. About ready to pull the disk.

Storage / Cannot Delte empty folders Ter...
Last post by videoed - February 11, 2026, 07:03:52 PMReposting from 2024. I have several terastastion TS-XL with firm ware 1.75. On two of the units I am experiencing a strange behaviour with several folders on two of the drives, seven in total 2 units. I cannot delete the folders. I can copy files and folders into them and the new ones will delete but when I try to delete the "stuck" folder the files inside are deleted but not the folder itself. No error messages at all. Tried with several file managers all with same result. Tried on a PC with Win 11 and one with windows 10. I have also tried using CMD prompt do delete the folders but it returns a folder not empty. Is there a utility or such that can directly access the files and folders on a Terastation TS-XL, or any idea how to delete the folders. Each unit is set up with 4 2TB hard drives as just drives, not raids. I know this is not killer, but it would be nice to clean them up.
