Hello,

Recently we had a power outage, which caused our TS3400 to roll over. Now, when it's booting, it flashes "EM06 lost boot image" and goes into EM-mode. From what I've gathered, it should be possible to setup a TFTP-server and apply a new firmware (as per this link: http://forums.buffalotech.com/index.php?topic=10185.0 )

Unfortunately there's no files for the TS3400. I found out, that you can make a USB-drive to recover the TS3400, but since I'm not able to access it, I can't make a recovery drive..

Any ideas on how to proceed?

Thanks!

TSUpdater.exe reports "Could not confirm whether the partition exists. Firmware updating is aborted". I suspect it might succeed, if I rebuild/clean the partition tables, but I need to get the data out :(

as long as the unit is showing in EM mode, and not E06 or the TFTP mode, that means you might not have pushed it over the edge!

Try pulling 1 drive at a time and booting it, IE remove drive 1, boot, if no boot, reinsert drive 1, then pull drive 2, boot, if not boot, repeat process with the other 2, if you find the bad drive, you might be able to simply clean it and return it to rebuild into the array...

If however you have attempted to power cycle it or unplug it improperly, and its no longer doing EM Mode... well then DriveSavers or software like R-Studio are your best bets for getting the data back first! (thanks to the Rep who gave me the "terms" for the google search which lead me directly to R-Studio!)

If all else fails, call the support line

Hello!

I had a talk with Buffalo support and we tried a few things. Nothing worked, so they want me to return it under warranty - which is fine. Kudos to Buffalo for their quick replies and for actually reading what I wrote to them! Also, kudos for overnighting a new key to my unit (I lost the old one). I'm really impressed by the service.

I'm currently in the process of trying to save the data using UFS Explorer. Hopefully I'm able to salvage most of it.
