Linkstation Live (v2) shuts off

LS live (v2)

symptoms

1) press power button

2) power LED flashes

3) if connected to LAN, the ACT led on

4) HDD does not appear to spin up

5) after ~ 5 to 10 seconds, error led flashes once then unit appears to shut off although there is a repeated beep (no apparent pattern, just beeb, beep, beep ...)

5a) if press power button the beeping will stop

 

if  press init button while pressing power button

• power led on steady

• has 1x beep on initial press of power

• if connected to host PC, ACT led has fairly fast flash (no appearent pattern)

• can hear HDD spin up

• will not respond to power switch (pull cord to turn off)

 

for either power on scenario 

• navigator will not detect the LS 

• host PC ip set as 192.168.11.1

• tried tftp, no file xfer or

 

any ideas (saveable or new door stop, paper weight etc)?
