Hi All

I have just purchased at 2TB Linkstation and am experiencing nothing but problems - can anyone help with the following:

1. How to organise files copied onto the device without these files being copied across the network and taking forever. Surely there is a way to log into the drive locally and move files around - NOT through the web access which is too slow to even warrant its own existence.

2. The App. - With virtually no settings or config tools and very basic istructions it just says cannot connect to server if I try to use it. Other file management apps will connect to it so no idea why that is.

3 - File writing speed - Anyone know of a way to speed up the transfer rate? Direct copy doesnt recognise either of my passport USB hardrives, so thats out and copying 100MB takes about 5 hours, nice.

4. Does anyone have any tips on accessing the web access control panel. This worked a few times when I first installed it, it was very slow but it worked. Now without having changed any router settings it just says page cannot be displayed from all devices I have tried from, Mac, PC, Wired, Wireless and from an external network.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as the only option so far seems to be back in the box.

Thanks for any help. :)

Cheers

David

Hi

The firmware is 1.56 - the software doesnt show a model number. LS CHL?

1. Im confused here - I can log into the local settings of the LS, where I get management options like folder setup etc - cant I manage files here? Surely that would make sense as it wouldnt rely on internet speed?

2. Ok, Im sure the app will work once I fix the web access issues

3. Im transferring from a USB harddrive using my PC to the LS via my network - when I plug in the USB drive directly into the LS, nothing happens and I see no options in the admin.

4. Im using UPnP I dont know how to set up port forwarding, so Ill have to look into it - Im using a BT homehub. I am accessing the admin area on 192.168.0.70/static/index.html - thats all. Is there a port I can use to get the web access where I can manage files locally?

Thanks for your help so far.

I have disabled UPnP and set up port forwarding to port 9000, but cannot access it on 192.168.0.70:9000

private65

Hi Ive done that - port 9000 forwards to the IP address. when I navigate to the ip on port 9000 page cannot be displayed. when i go to buffalonas.com/myusername page cannot be displayed

Hi - will get a screenshot for you - but heres a copy and paste of the message:

Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 109.145.4.209:9000.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
    moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I give up. Web access either doesnt connect at all or is so slow its useless. clearly Admin have given up helping too.

port 9000 IS NOT open on your router! Forward port 9000 for TCP to the IP address of the linkstation, do this on your router. Once this is done correctly it WILL work!

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
Having network issues? Drop me an email: info@interwebsireland.com and we will get it fixed!

Have i helped you? Buy me a coffee as a thanks!

A moderator or Admin may not always be available to fix your issue as this is a community forum. We do our best to help all our users. Davo is correct, your port forwarding rules are either not set or not set properly. If the service works locally via the local IP address but it does not work remotely then the issue is port forwarding.

You mean you are using web access to transfer all your files about? why dont you do it over your local network via my computer, Map network drive and connect and transfer to it fom there!
