Dear Buffalo Team,

I wrote a couple of month ago to the tech. support.

I asked for an update possibility of installed version: 7.5.1 - r30836 @ Tue Jun 1 07:00:59 MDT 2010

This versions is overdue for almost 1.5 years!!!

The latest SBS version is 7.7.1.

In Fact all related connected devices, especially the Squeeze Box Touch automatically likes to update itself.

If you do not turn this off, you run into serious update/downgrade loops. And with the older software, you cannot

register the SB Touch on the website.

Please let me know, when we may expect a FW containing the latest SBS release?

If you don't like to do that, please give a documentation how to do that by myself (and, of course, on my own risk)

In the internet, there is a tutorial available, but this seems to be very complicate with a Virtual Linux Machine etc.

Otherwise I'll have to consider to sell the Linkstation and to buy one, that allows more in-time updates.

Kind regards

Sascha

this looks like a good idea to suggest on the Idea Exchange Lounge, where the readers can vote for this. The more votes, the more it rises to the top and gets noticed by our engineers.

Yes indeed, I don't know the Idea Lounge, yet. But if this is something that could bring us a step forward, I'll fine with it.

There are plenty of tutorials available in the web, but they are too complicate.

I am pretty sure that devices that allow users the possibility to tweak around a little bit and to adpot a device to their needs,

are more successful than those closed systems.

So the idea/proposal should be as follows:

The servers running on the Linkstation should be upgradeable independent from the firmware.

Especially the Squeeze Box Server needs to be updated more frequently. They are not at 7.7.1, LS is still at 7.5.1

It would be quite fair, if Buffalo cannot provide updates that frequently, that users may be able to update

by themselves.

This should be possible by the webinterface totally independent from the OS of a connected PC.

Other possible platform independent connections types are TFTP, Telnet or TCP/IP, whereas TFTP requires a TFTP server installation on the PC.

Can you arrange for a right proposal in the Idea Lounge?

Kind regards

Sascha

proposals are put forth by the originator of the idea. the idea exchange lounge is in these forums. You just list your idea and readers vote on it - get all your friends to vote yes on it, to raise the idea to the top.

same issue here: If I switch to the LS : FW downgrade, if I switch back for InternetRadio> FW upgrade ... that's not nice.

On my old LS-HG, I've had install the SLIM Version 7.7 without any problems ( ok on that device it was a performance killer ;) - but the architecure is a PPC and the SW was openlink (real Debian) . Normaly I don't want "hack" at any time every device - its spend to much time, and I want to use the Linkstation LS-WV out of the Box ....

So --- pls update the in the next FW ( > 1.63 ) at min. the SLIM / LMS to the current version

THX

LS-WV problems:

1) does not shows in itunes the songlist

2) Squeezebox make up-/downgrade, because the Version on the LS is to old :(
