I was fairly happy with my cloudstor, happier than without, not any more.

I sent in the following review to newegg downgrading my 4* review to 2*. I think I gave the unit a complete workout and chance to redeem itself.

"Downgrade from 4* to 2*. Initially I gave it a 4* after lots of troubleshooting and finally getting it working as RAID1, adding a 2nd 2TB seagate 5900RPM, and everything almost seemed fine for a few days, other than email status never working. But now I've had this NAS crash one me 3 times, I come home with front lights off and only unplugging and plugging in power will it come back, but with 2nd RAID drive corrupted. A 15 hour RAID rebuild cycle and it is working fine again as RAID1 for a few days to a week. At least the NAS still works off of 1 drive, but it is unacceptable that I am waiting 15 hours for RAID1 to come back up. Plus Incomplete web bit torrent. Non working email notification. Quirky/buggy pogoplug -- drive buggy."

So, what do you say? Why do I sometimes come home or wake up to my firmware updated, unmodified, cloudstor with no lights on in the front, but power and ethernet lights on (and ethernet blinking) in the back. The shares and web ui are not accessible. The only way out is unplugging the power. Plugging it in, drive 2 shows error status. 15 hours of rebuilding later, it is fine for a few days up to a week, and it is deja vu.

Update (12/25): I think I found the fix. Schedule CS shutdown/restart every 2 nights. I've only had 1 corruption since doing it in more than a month, and that was during a 2 1/2 day interval before restarting. Since then, I've scheduled it for every other day, and for 2 consecutive days, and haven't had RAID1 corruption since.

Update2 (12/29):

Nope.  Just had another hard drive corruption, rebuild cycle.

The issue *might* be down to you adding a 5900rpm drive. As far as I'm aware the HDD would need to be 7200rpm on this unit other wise you may corrupt the RAID.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

I too have had many problems with crashes, lost data, and completely insane build times.

Each time, we try TFTP, formatting the drives, etc...and each time it results in an RMA unit.

Two months later and I've gotten a whopping 6 days use of my CloudStor.

Wish I had stuck with a more robust solution from a different company.

Really? I've had mine for 8 months and haven't had any issues what so ever!

What model and spec hard drives are you using in you cloudstor? Mine came with a seagate barracuda ST32000542AS = 5900rpm 32mb cache I can't find that model. So as 2nd hdd for RAID I got its closest replacement ST2000DL003 also 5900 rpm but 64mb cache There been other posts that say any 2tb 5900rpm drive work as supported 2nd hdd

You must be one of the very few. list of problems since getting the cloudstor 1 year ago today.

rebuild after firmware update crash x 3  Firmware 1.13

Time Schedule only sometimes works and when I try to change the schedule from say 12:00am to 07:30  to  10:15pm to 07:30 it does not work and closes down with pc shutdown.

No access from local network, only over internet then

No access from internet only local network

All in all the only good thing I have to say about the cloudstor unit, is that the service from Buffalo staff is very good (but I bought this box to backup my system and not make friends at a call center in Ireland...)
