Hi

I have a buffalo linkstation pro duo nas which is 8 months old. I have the unit plugged into my main router via an ethernet cable.

Over the past view months the device has started to regularly drop connection from my network. My main pc cant detect it from the nas navigator software.

Turning off the router back and on doesn't fix it. The only way to get it back on is by physically turn the nas drive off and back on. I have upgraded to the latest firmware and checked that the device is on 'on' rather than auto, which it is.

Im scratching my head as to why the device keeps dropping the connection. If anyone has any suggestions/advice I'm all ears!!

Forgot to say that my unit is LS-WXL 104. The device has also been set up with a static IP as like all my other devices on the network

Yeh I also have the same problem. It will turn on fine and for 30-60 mins work as normal but after that it would just drop off the network!! ... The blue light stays on and even when I flick the switch at the back to off it does nothing the blue light stays on. I have to physically switch it off and start again.

Could someone please help us with this???

Thanks

Glad there is more than one with this problem!

Its the same for me, lights on (blue power light) but no one is home :(

Everything works fine but then just suddenly drops the connection and a physical reboot is required, which isnt handy for me as my NAS drive is up in my attic/network area.

A fix/suggestion would be greatly appreciated

thanks

I will add my two cents here as well. I get the same thing, the unit is less than a month old, keeps on dropping from the network which is only resolved by a physical reboot.

I have another NAS on the network - different manufacturer - works flawlessly. Less than happy with the Buffalo NAS antics. . .

JB2020

More info on this, in my case the NAS navigator cannot find the box, and its web administration page is unresponsive once the network shares drop.

However.

The box *is* pingable. I get a successful ping test - its just everything else that doesn't work !

In case it was a firmware issue, I patched today to 1.54-2.84 - but as its just dropped network connection again, I guess that hasn't resolved the issue.

This is more a network issue than a Linkstation problem, I had the same problem because of a bad network configuration.

If the Linkstation has a static IP address, check that the DHCP server (normally the router functions as DHCP server) is configured in a way it does not assigns the same IP to another computer.  Or if not using a DHCP server check the IP addresses one by one to make sure there are no duplicates.

JB2020

In my case I have tried both static and dynamic IP - as all the other devices on the network are static, the IP in use for the box is not duplicated elsewhere, and the problem still occurs.

After patching it to the latest firmware to try and correct the issues ( which I had a lot of trouble with and had to resort to ACP_Commander ) , I have tried resetting it to its factory defaults via the web settings, and reconfiguring again, and so far it seems to be better - several hours no drops.

sitchey

Thanks for the shared problems guys as I'm glad I'm not alone.

I too am on the latest firmware and have tried resetting the config, changing the ip address etc but stil the same issues. I have other devices connected to the network and they are fine so i know my network hardware is ok. So that just leaves the NAS drive!!

Can Buffalo please have a look at this as its an issue that is effecting quite a few people!!

ESCHER

Maybe you have changed the default frame size.

Is the default gateway of the various PC and the Linkstation set correctly?

JB2020

I have had a few weeks of no drops with this box - yesterday a firmware update was flagged as waiting, so I let it patch itself. No other changes made.

Since then the box is back to dropping out after a few hours. I have tried resetting to factory settings but this time no joy - the box drops from the network again after a few hours. Note the only change I have made this time round from factory default is to change the name of the box, otherwise its all default.

All in all the box has given me too many problems - other NAS units I have work without problem, so I am biting the bullet on this one, junking the item, ripping the drives out to use elsewhere and will avoid buffalo products in future. Live and learn.

Hi I have a new Buffalo Linkstation Duo (not pro) LS-WX4.0TL/R1

4TB (2x2tb)

I am having the same problem of it dropping of my network. I have to pull the power cord out of the back to shut it down. I can't access the admin through browser. I have pinged the box and it is there.

I have the latest firmware installed Firmware version:1.60.

Anyone got any fixes? Help appreciated.

There should be a small switch on the back of the unit. The choices are AUTO/ON/OFF. Make sure it is set to ON and see if that helps

are you guys running firmware 1.6???

1.6 installs an update to twonky

ii was having the same issue with my linkstation dropping of the network after 30 mins. I downgraderd the firmware to 1.58 which also downgraded the twonky media server

= nomore issues dropping off the network

Cheers

We use NAS drives for backup purposes at a few clients, and have experienced this issue with a few of them.

I logged a ticket with support but there responses weren't much use suggesting it was more a LAN issue than a Buffalo fault!!

Had this across multiple firmware versions from 1.54 - 1.60... Any one actually have a stable NA now - if so what setup on firmware, eth frame size, dhcp/static IP etc?
