Does Synology support moving your files over from a Terastation Pro backup?

I'm getting SICK of the lack of response from Buffalo, and ready to blast Buffalo all over the internet. It's like they don't feel a need to even respond, months after a change that was noticed by Apple many months earlier. I thought I was buying a business NAS device, and now this. Ugh. Buffalo is going to take a long-lasting PR hit from this unless they do better, fast.

ngarimu

You and me both. I didn't realize they meant Terror-station for the terrible service!

ngarimu

Just a thought. If Synology supports rsync then it should be a cinch to migrate data from Terrastation to a Synology device.

Jay,

What is being done with the LS-QL and Mac OS 10.7 / Time Machine issues?

I bought this unit less than a year ago and can not get a clear response from Buffalo.

Hi,

I'm using the LS-WXL system and updated the firmware to 1.54, but Time Machine still gives me the AFP error. Any advice?

Has anyone reported this situation to David Pogue (New York Times)? The public has a right to know if a major company is falling down on customer support in this way.

I'm going off on a business trip for a few weeks. If Buffalo doesn't have this fixed by mid-October (3 months after the rollout of Lion), I'm going to escalate. My Terastation is a brick at the moment.

No, not quite: oddly enough, Sonos has done their fix, and my music is streaming from the Terastation again! But my shared volumes, with all the important stuff, won't mount. Maybe Sonos has smarter engineers.

It's annoying that that the CS director hasn't posted an FAQ/progress update recently. Sending folks off to some website that MIGHT offer a workaround is not an adequate response. It hasn't worked for me.

I agree with you.  Sonos has done a superb job updating their software to work with Lion.  Just as important, they have regularly communicated clear expectations to their customers.  Plus they respond to questions from their customers, i.e they don't ignore their customers like Buffalo does. Sonos is an awesome company with wonderful products.

I stopped waiting on Buffalo long ago.  I don't care enough to go to the NY Times.  I would rather take my business elsewhere.

Now I just follow this forum for the sad amusement factor.

Am I missing a sticky somewhere or are you guys still working on the firmware update for the original Terastation Product lines? I own the Terastation Model HD-H1.0TGL/R5 and the Buffalo link theater....Will I ever see a firmware updates? I have purchased alot of your products and am quite dissappointed in your response to keeping up on the firmware for the ones I own.

Buffalo products I own:

Terastation Model HD-H1.0TGL/R5

Buffalo link theater - Disco'd shortly after my buying it....go figure. Firmware is horrible!!

Buffalo Wireless access point WHR3-G54

Buffalo Router WYR-G54 - First Buffalo product I owned.

Can I at least get a "loaner drive" while you guys work on it? .....my Terastation is a brick with an electrical cord right now until you update the firmware..... so I can do my backups with Time Machine.  Or better yet.... upgrade my Terastation that does provide support for OS 10.7 Lion firmware updates .......so that I can continue to use it with Time Machine. Please advise asap.

It might be nice to take care of those early adopters who helped Buffalo make a name for itself in the market place. Eager to get a positive response from someone in your customer service department with a resolution.

One of the models that Buffalo has not provided updated firmware for is the TS-1.0TGL/R5, marketed as an ultra-reliable RAID drive for business customers. Not an entry-level cheap device, but a premium one.

Apple simply improves the security, and Buffalo fails to support these drives for months. Do they have just one guy doing this?

I think we have a right to know if they never intend to provide firmware, so we could seek reliable companies to meet our storage needs. Late August was the last announced date, which passed a month ago.

I suppose if you feel Buffalo Tech is not being responsible or responsive, tell it to David Pogue: pogue@nytimes.com and see what he thinks. He has a position of perspective on how various companies are coping with this upgrade in network security by Apple.

Just wondering if anyone out there is experiencing issues with their LinkStation LS-WX2.0TL/R1 and I can't get my NAS to work with my iMac and Lion! The connectivity only last a few seconds/minutes before dropping completely and it will not mount no matter what. I'm running firmware 1.54. I don't know what else to try. I'm so frustrated as I have all my files, documents there as well as my family stuff. I bought this unit to replace a dead WD about a year ago and now with this issues the headache and anguish of not beting able to access your files is not a pleasant one to say the least. I can't find anything new or if this issue has been solved. If it has can someone help me! I will really appreciate it!!!

Thanks so much!

Anyone know of the status of the Lion compatible firmware for the LS-WTGL/R1-V3 ? (Linkstation Pro Duo)

brendanb

Hi,

Im in the market for a TS-XE8.0/R5-EU Nas but I cannot make heads or tails as to whether its compatible with OSX 10.7 Lion.

We have 2 older Terrastations which no longer work due to AFP being changed by Apple.

I see there is an updated driver/firmaware, but this driver/firmaware is dated may/2011 which is before the release. So my fiorst thought is its not available. Ive read through the posts and I cannot work out whether this particular drive will work with 10.7 or not. I dont want to purchase these drives if its not working. I see there is also a post on the main page about updated drivers, but this relates to other models.

Can anyone please advise?

Brendan

Hi,

i am owner of a Linkstation LS-QL/R5 device. As i understand FW updates are not out yet but still planned.

With my Mac OS Lion i experienced several problems. I can not login to shared folders with AppleTalk enabled and my printer on the USB port also doesn't work.

Are the problems with Time Machine, login and printer all related to the AFP incompatibility?

Best regards,

Günter
