Linkstation Mini Disappears from Router

   I have just purchased a Linkstation Mini 1TB.  I was using the media server functionality to stream video to my playstation when the strem froze.  I could no longer access the media server from the PS3 or the mapped drives from my laptop.  When I checked the router connections the Linkstation Mini has dissappeared from the list and no matter how many times I reboot it or the router it will not come back.  The front of the linkstation has the linkstation blue light that just continually blinks.

This sounds just like a problem I am experiencing.  I have a 3-day-old drive.  The difference I was only using the drive for shared files and power was disrupted.  At first I thought it was because of the power loss, but now am wondering if there is an underlying issue.

 

Was connected via Ethernet to Apple Airport Extreme

If you suspect that the media server in the LinkStation has frozen, you can use the Maintenance page to tell the LinkStation to reset to factory defaults.  This won't delete any of your data, but it will clear ll other user settings.  However, it also forces all of the services to purge their cache files and logs, and restart.

 

I have seen issues on my own PS3 when a certain file fails to stream properly.  It seems that once the DLNA connection is disrupted, BOTH the PS3 and LinkStation need to be rebooted, as doing one or the other doesn't help.  The odd part is that it seems to be limited to the PS in this regard, as my laptop can still see and access the shared media.
