I have not yet purchased this product which looks to me to work better than a NAS. One thig that is important is DLNA compatibility, however, There is nothing mentioned in the product details or on any of these pages. So some great input would beappreciated.

TheBigIke

I just ordered one and found out that it DOES NOT support DLNA. The description on Amazon even says it streams to Xbox and PS3, but it doesn't. I'm returning it for a LinkStation Duo.

JoshC

This unit does support DNLA but is not DLNA certified.

NinjaNAS

We have had this work specifically with a PS3, even though it is not DLNA "certified" but it will show up as a media server for the PS3.

swmiller

is this due to the fact of transcoding to H2.64?

NinjaNAS

Transcoding has nothing to do with it. When a file is transcoded it is stored on the pogo plug servers. The origonal file is still on your cloudstor and will be streamed to your Ps3 if the Ps3 supports that format.

I'm looking for something with both DLNA, torret, and the "personal cloud" capability (remote access through computer and phone, and ability to share specific items (not whole drive) with other users).  Buffalo Cloudstor seems to have the best setup for personal cloud, Iomega and WD both seem difficult to use and unstable, but Cloudstor doesn't appear to have DLNA or torrent. I couldn't tell form the Linkstation Pro documentation whether it had the same easy cloud functionality that Cloudstor had or not.

RTShaw

lost most control of my fingers, body, have constant spasms & tremors (post-polio) now throat Cancer ,so pleaqe bear with me, it hurts like hell 2 type or move(but i ain't dead yet doggitt!)

i'm running my cloudstor pro as a family &friends website and streaming video  to 3 hd tv's 1080p/i thru  wdlive hd boxes with no failure (no dlna but i dont need it with the wdlive units) but 2 use the wd devices (or locally) u do have  2 define a share 2 the drive then map the drive (thatmaynot be needed but i map the drives since i store videos too) running dual seagate 2TB drives on this unit.

Actually, Buffalo's CloudStor is DLNA compatable and will work with Xbox360 and PS3's.  You just have to turn the media server in "Settings" and the "Media Settings:"

Also transcoded file are stored locally on your CloudStor and not on pogoplug or our servers.

Interesting that if this product had been also been noted as DLNA compatible, I would have already purchased. As it is I have purchased a different product from another company.

mcchico

I am curious to know if it has DLNA like the LS Pro-Duo -- what is it about this unit that does not make it DLNA certified? Is ir a protocol that is missing or something else that the LS Pro-Duo supports that this one does not support. I need to know becasue I may need to decide which one to buy.

Thanks!

Craptastic

Having the same dilemma deciding which to buy. From this thread it sounds like they both do DLNA properly. On http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/CloudStor-vs-BuffaloNAS/m-p/63654/highlight/true#M35798">this thread it sounds like the CloudStor has better file level sharing functionality than the LS. Looking at the latest reviews for PogoPlug (CloudStor) for Android, it looks like this software really blows after the latest update. Yet the reviews for WebAccess A (LS Pro) say no SSL streaming or downloading files to your mobile device?
