Linkstation 1 TB flashing Red 6 times. When pressing the function button it goes into blue and the fan keeps on spinning.

I see the error on the knowledge base but is there any way to resolve this?

I have no backups made and have nearly 300GB of data on. The Nas Navigator cannot find the HDD i cannot telnet to itm (givin a static IP) Using Windows Vista Premium = no problems.

Please can anyone help me on this issue? I don't wanna loose my data i have a lot of family pics. (stupid me for not backing up) and only had this for 3 months.

Many thanks in advance for your help and support. :-)

The only thing you can do here is to try and use the TFTP tool available here ftp://24.153.165.234/disk1/share/nas-recovery/ and pick the one labeled LS-Live2.10.exe. After downloading this connect the device directly into your computer and set is to a static ip 192.168.11.1 and run the software, if it says "blocks served" then you can try to run the updater utility. If that doesn't work, then that error is not false you probably do have a failed disk.

Thanks for this i will give it a go. Just a few questions,

Do i connect the device into my PC using a ethernet cable or USB? Cause u mentioned static IP i'll take a wild case i an say ethernet.

Hopefully i answered the question but i;d like to confirm :-) ta

Sorry please ignore my above post.

I connected the device to my windows XP machine and my Nas Navi 2 software picked this up and its showing up as EM Mode with an IP address of 192.168.11.150. When i change the IP address to 192.168.11.1 it says it's already in use.

So i set the IP address to the one given 192.168.11.1 on my network and leave the nas navi to defualt.  I went into Local Area Connection and entered the IP address and subnet mask.

I connected the Linkstation via ethernet, & ran TFTP Boot recovery and it nothing shows up. On Aceppting Requests there is nothing comming below.

If you need more info please let me know, also what is the updater software?

Thanks

On Windows Vista it says Block Served, What do i need to do now?  Sorry i just can't see to get it working.

Sorry - for all the posts and thanks for your time in reading this.

Jason

Once it says blocks served you leave that open and try to run the firmware updater. If you haven't downloaded it yet, it's on the support tab of buffalotech.com and under downloads then select your model and download the firmware. Once extracted you will see a program called LSUpdater, run that.

Hello, I tried the firmware updater but to no joy.  think there was an issue in the final stages to wait for a responce back.

Now the device is on but it keeps flashing blue lights.  I still cannot see it through Nas Navi or TFTP Boot.  This is still conneced directly to my XP machine.

Whats next boss?

Thanks.

Hi again,

Its one problem after another, Cause i couldnt do anything with the flashing blue light, it was sitting there for around 20 mins or less. I pulled out the power cable.  Now the Drive wont even switch on! Tjere are no lights, all i can hear is the fan spinning.

HELP :-) ta

If it won't even power on at this point in normal or EM mode, it may be time for the unit to be sent in for a replacement.  Please contact the Buffalo Helpdesk to set up a repair order!

This issue has just happened to my network drive and I'm desperately trying to recover it... it has all my baby photos on it so all help would be greatfully accepted... can anyone please tell me how I first gain FTP access to the recovery software, as the ftp isn't working.

Then in simple terms explain how I attempt a hard drive recovery.

Thanking you in advance.

Regards,

Tony
