Hi;

i have a linkstation live 320gb nas set up on my home network.  The drive itself works very well indeed, but i am supprised that the drive seems to be clunking away even hours after i have shut all the pcs down on the network.  Can someone here tell me what the drive is doing?  I expected it to have some sort of idle/power down setting (ie if not accessed for an hour or so) as this seems to be a waste of both power as well as the drives life!!!

   You probably have the media server enabled, if that is on the drive spins constantly.  Just open a web browser and type in the IP Address of the unit. Then log in with your credentials Username: admin Password: password. Now go to the pcast/media server tab and just disable it and hit apply.

Hi, I have the same problem, however one of the first things I did was to disable the media server but the drive is still showing almost constant activity even when nothing is being sent to it. I have no printer or USB device attached to the drive. Bit disappointed it doesn't go into idle mode after a while of no file transfer, as I am worried that this will shorten the life of the drive.

It would be helpful to have the exact models and firmware as well.
