Hi all,

I bought two units of Link Station Pro Duo LS-WVL last week, and have set them up. Both units are running the latest firmware version 1.42. I have a few questions which I hope wil be answered in this forum.

  1. Is it possible to create partitions on the hard disks installed on the Pro Duos?
  2. I want to set both units to "Auto" in order to save power, but can the linkstation be configured to 'wake up' to run scheduled backups in "Auto" mode?
  3. I want to back up my PC to the NAS, and I know that the Novastor software can be run as a service with Admin priveleges. Does this mean that the backup will run even if a user is not logged in?
  4. I can use WOL to wake up the PC at a pre-determined time. Can the PC be shutdown after the backup is completed?
  5. I have configured a couple of shares with access permissions, but can I set folder / file level permissions?
  6. I have configured the squeezebox server, and am able to play music off it. But, the Android Client I use (Squeeze Control) is unable to connect and reports that the cli port at 9090 is unreachable. No issues with the http port. How to fix this?
  7. Is is possible to configure the hard disks to spin down after a pre-configured idle time? The unit can stay awake, I just want to spin down the disks.
  8. What version of Bit torrent is included in Firmware version 1.42?

1. No this is not supported. You can create multiple shares and that is it.

2. They will not wake up to run scheduled back ups. The auto feature will turn the unit back on once a PC is detected on the network that is running the Nas Navi software. If you want to run scheduled back ups keep the unit on. It consumes very little power.

3. A user will need to be logged on and the program will have to be running to perform backups.

4. I do not see why you could not turn off the PC.

5. You can only set share folder permissions, not subfolder or file permissions.

6. You need to change the port number. Port 9090 is used for the BitTorrent.

7. There is no spin down function.

8. I do not know which version specifically it is running but I do now that it is a simple embedded version.

These units are really meant to stay powered on. I have the same unit and mine stays on all the time and it is as happy as can be. The unit only consumes 11watts an hour.

Something alternatively to creating partitions is enabling user quota. You can enable this and specify how much space a user can consume. That may be a work around that you would be interested in.

"You need to change the port number. Port 9090 is used for the BitTorrent."

There is an option to change the http port in the squeezebox server gui, but no option to change the cli port. How can I change the cli port of the squeezebox server?

Jotin

There is no option in the interface to change the client port. Was that the default port that came up in that android app?

Hi,

I have been trying to get my squeezebox server working and I am at my end!!! I have the exact same problem where everything works but the app I am using to control my squeezebox server on the linkstation requires the cli port 9090??

Did you ever figure this out??

I cannot find anything about the cli port in the linkstation documentation or firmware??? Please please help...

fullerms

No. I started using a Tonido plug for my squeezebox server.

batman31

So I basically need to buy new hardware... Ugh!

Has anyone figures out a workaround that just works? I read a little about Tonido plug and it seems like a lot of programming is necessary? So frustrated....

Nat

Maybe too late to help but I use the official Squeezebox controller software on my Android and it works fine. Though I have run into the same CLI port problem trying to use Music2Touch on my wife's Blackberry Playbook.
