I have a LS-WTGL-R1 and used the samsung disks from the linkstation elsewhere, but then i needed to use the origional samsung disks in the linkstation. I get led error 6(HDD failure). They are formatted with FAT32. I have tried to use the TFTP program with no sucess. It cannot see the linkstation.

Can someone please help me?

Kind Regards

Those drives would have to be RAW not FAT.

Sticking a FAT drive in there won't work.

I have tried that too, but i have no contact to the linkstation

TFTP is the only way to bring it back, if the drives have been formated and the boot files are gone.  What happens when you run the TFTP software, http://forums.buffalotech.com/buffalo/board/message?board.id=0101&message.id=881&query.id=50933#M881" target=_blank>TFTP

I will try to some it all up.

I took the 2 org. Samsung 500GB disks at plugged them into my pc and used them for a few weeks.

I then dicided to use the linkstation again, so i plugged the org. disks in the linkstation again. The where raw drives at this point, i also tried the disks with FAT32 and NTFS, with no result. When i turn the device on, it boots for about 3-5 seconds, and then shuts the disks off and i get the middle LED blinking 6 times, and as far as i can see from the manual, that means the LS can't read the disks.

So i searched help in the forum, and found the TFTP program and followed the instrctions, it's booted in EM mode, and corret IP for pc is set, but i have no connection to the linkstation. The TFTP program can't see the LS.

The file i used was: TFTP Boot Recovery-LS Pro DUO.exe

I really hope you can help me

When running the software does it show that it is listening on 192.168.11.1

The 6 blink error code means that the drive cannot find the operating system on the disks, understandably. When it is in this mode, it will be making TFTP requests to 192.168.11.1. Try hooking up the Linkstation and the computer to the same switch or router, make sure you have the correct static ip address set, and that any software firewalls (mcaffe, zonealarm, norton internet security, windows firewall) are all disabled completely, then try running the tftp boot program again, then powercycle the Linkstation.

Now i have contact to the linkstation, but when trying to update to 1.08 the format fails.

I used: TFTP Boot Recovery LS-WTGL-v1 1.08.exe

Colin137

Does the device have one or two USB ports? If only one USB port, use TFTP Boot Recovery LS-WTGL-v1 1.08.exe and the 1.09 firmware, if two USB ports, use TFTP Boot Recovery LS-WTGL-v3 3.08.exe and the 3.09 firmware.

When you flash the firmware, use the force procedure below, and check all four Config options. Rebuild partition table will erase the disks and set up the correct partitions.
