Linkstation Gigabit 500GL UPS box greyed out

I have a Gigabit 500GL NAS that I want to connect to a UPS.  I have an Ultra 2000. This unit filters the electrical current will run for about 20 minutes and has a USB to connect to a computer. I connected it to the NAS, but the Linkstation does not recognize it.  The UPS enable box is greyed out.

 

How do I get the Linkstation to recognize the UPS?
