Terastation pro 1 transfer speed

The top speed I get when I turn off my firewall, and enable the largest frame size available on the terastation with Raid 5, transfering a large movie file on my computer is officially according to my bandwidth monitor.

2-4 MBps. Average 2MB/s. My Terastation Live transfer speed is 7-8 MB/s. So basically, at its best, its only 50% the speed of my terastation live. At its average, its 25% the speed on my Terastation live. ( 75% slower)

Also, I noticed if my computer does anything else like even load a website, the connection speed drops. So the connection is not as stable as wtih the terastation live.

So the speed is not 1,000 Mbps as the tech suggested.

Anyway, the speed I notice is absolutly horrible for a NAS unit but actually better than a lot of reviews I have read on amazon, new egg, etc.. Some people reported transfering a file for literally days and only getting around 6GB transfered.

I feel thew same way but Im getting 1.2 MBps on the tera and kb/sec on the live.

I tried ether and wireless . ridiculous

What is out there for fast network data xsfer?

Try the TS Pro with a direct connection to your pc with a static ip address. See how the transfer speed is then.

That is your answer to everything. Respectfully, you guys really do not know what your doing.

I dont say that to be rude, I say it after patiently working with your incompitent support staff never to reach a resolution.

All of these excessive reports of impossible slow transfer speeds on your own boards - not to mention google and all anyone can say is connect it to a pc. Priceless.

I had a netgear readynas and terastation pro right out of the boxes, plugged both into the same switch and while the netgear unit performed as expected 75-84 mbps, the terastation crawled at 5-10 mbps. Those who run backups to NAS know that is unusable.

Again - this board is littered with countless reports of this and all you can say is "connect it to a PC". Its a network device.

You guys are really confident in your product, not.

I hate to come accross rude, but all 15 years into my career, I have never seen such a lazy and incompitent company.

Hey erismith2005

I've Terastation pro also and was having similar speed problems tried updating firmware, setting all the settings correct etc... nothing helped me there but after awhile I thought trying to plug it in PC straight and the transfer speed launched up to 100mbs as it before was <2mbs so i realised that the problem was between the devices = router/switch and picked up another one from the warehouse and that solved the speed issue for me atleast. the one that didn't work was Allied Telesyn http://www.alliedtelesis.com/p-1902.html">AT-8124XL and I replaced it with Allied Telesyn http://www.alliedtelesis.com/p-1894.html">AT-8024.

In our case the router/switch was between Server <-> Terastation and is attached to another network card so the Terastation and some other devices are excluded from other parts of the network.

I know this is old post but since I haven't been able to find the solution elsewhere I thought to post it for others who might get some help out of it.

I'd wet myself If my NAS transfered more than 8mb/s (75mb/s wow lol).  I tell ya copying 2000gb onto one of those things took me about a week, god help me getting the data off again :(.  My setup is just a PC > Router > NAS.  And I've tried different switches and routers, it doesnt improve transfer speed for me.  Hopefully firmware update fixes it but i dont hold my breath.

Is both the Router and PC connection speed at 1.0Gbps?
