I bought this Linkstation Quad with 4 GB storage some month ago and it have worked flawless running Raid 5 with my 2 computers, but here the other dag it started to loose network connections when transfering to of from it, arround 1-2 min of file transfer and then it loose the connection (or become really slow), sometimes i need to make a powercut to turn it off, the button on the front won't turn the NAS off unfortenly, i have tried to replace the netcabel, also tryed another switch and even tried to connect it directely to my router, always the same happens

i'm running on the EU 1.11 firmware

have noticed once that when i had made the power cut to turn it off it run some raid areay test after start up again and nas navigator reports many times that it loose the connection

Sounds like the problem could be within the firmware itself, I would recommend flashing the firmware onto the unit using http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/FAQ-2-of-5-Force-Firmware-update-procedure-please-read-this/td-p/11011" target="_self" rel="nofollow">this method and the steps outlined

Hackerjac

you might be right, will try when comming home from work, i just find it wierd if it have to co with the firmware since the NAS have always runned on EU 1.11 firmware

Have now tryed to connect it directely to my labtop to make sure it ain't my switch or router, same thing, but here is another thing i find wierd, when it locked up on my lactiop i coulden comunicate with it over web interface, but after unplugging the netcabel and replug it,  the Linkstation was back to normal, but when i started to transfer files again it locked up again

More so than not it sounds like the firmware, before trying the FW try to boot into http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/FAQ-1-of-5-EM-Mode-boot-procedures-please-read-this/td-p/11008" target="_self" rel="nofollow">EM Mode before connecting it to the computer to restore basic settings (not data) and samba info to a default value

Hackerjac

Well i have now tryed the reset it in EM mode and also made a forced update, none of the abowe helped :(, i might now try to get the date out of the disc and then format the unit
