Hi, I would buy a Terastation Duo for safety store my files, but first I would know how to work this nas about firmware and his configuration if someone can help me...

Is the operating system installed on the nas rom?

where is stored the configuration, nas rom or disk(s)?

Dustrega

The firmware is stored on the HDDs and in the case of emergency a barebones of the firmware will boot from a ROM chip for recovery.  Hope this answers your question.

Thank you very much for this explanation, now i understand :smileywink:

But I am thinking... if i replace the HDD's with the new ones, the firmware automatically  will be copied in the new drives at boot?

Dustrega

Not the case, you would have to do a TFTP boot and then a force firmware update.  The ROM chip doesn't automatically load the firmware much like a motherboard BIOS won't automatically load an OS on to a new HDD when installed in a system.
