No download from Buffalonas with Android 2.1

Using a HTC Desire with Android 2.1 I am unable to download any files.

 

The download begins on the handset but it simply says no data connection, and nothing happens.

 

This is via Wifi connection.

 

Has anyone got this to work?  also the prewview will not work for mp3 files.

I'm on a moto droid and it works great through an ftp client. Dunno through the buffalonas though

using a BUFFALO WZR-HP-G300NH running 1.74 with external USB HDD.

 

Can access the Airstation webaccess page on a HTC desire web browser, although it doesnt work very well, ie it wont scroll thoughout the entire shared folder.

 

You can trigger a download of a file although it never is able to make a data connection and eventually times out.  Bit disappointing really :(

 

Alternatively is it possible to set up an FTP using my router & HDD that I can athen access from a FTP client on handset?

unticking HTTPS/SSL Encryption enables downloading :-)

 

bit unsecure though.  I wonder why this is, probably the fault of the android browser.

 

Does anyone know how to set up FTP on the HDD from the router?
