Hello everyone,

I recently used DBAN to wipe the two drives in my Pro Duo. Problem is, now that the drives are back in the NAS, I get six red flashing exclamation points. I tried holding down the FUNC button and I think I got the NAS reset to factory settings, but I still cannot see it with Nas Navigator or the firmware updater.

davo

you basically erased everything on the Nas, boot image, firmware etc. Now the unit has nothing to load from.

Try a TFTP boot to get the unit into EM Mode, if successful you will need to reinstall the firmware.

Both instructions can be found in the FAQ.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

Hi Davo,

I followed the instructions in the FAQ for getting the Linkstation into EM mode, but there are two different firmwares availible for the LS-WTGL, V1 and V3. I have the model "LS-W1.0TGL/R1" Do I use V1, or V3?

Edit: Tried both, neither of them worked. Is my device dead?

davo

If your nas has 2 USB ports then you have a V3

If it has one USB port then you have a V1.

Follow the instructions to the letter as outlined on the FAQ, what is the error you come across?

Hi davo,

I have a V3. I followed the directions to the letter in the FAQ for TFTP boot, but there is one part i'm unsure of:

4.       Boot the device. Wait until it says E04, E06, or System Now Booting before going to the next step.

I'm not sure what E04, E06 or System Now Booting means, and how do I see them if I can't open the TFTP program until after this step? Are these LED indicators?

I'm not getting any specific error, but I get no connections to the TFTP program after following those steps, but I may have screwed up step 4 as like I said, I'm not sure what to do with that.

Thanks for all of your help so far.

That refers to a TeraStation reading out via the LCD display.  With a LinkStation it will usually be 4 or 6 blinks of the function light.  After the device has booted up and with the TFTP program running try holding down the Function button for 5 to 10 seconds and see if you get the blocks served that way.

Hey dustrega,

I did receive the blocks this time and attempted to go onto updating the firmware. The FAQ explicitly says I need to be on the same subnet when trying to update, and I can find the NAS if my laptop's adress is set to 192.168.11.1 but according to the updater, the NAS has a far different IP and netmask. http://i.imgur.com/Y08ts.png">http://i.imgur.com/Y08ts.png

If I try to update, this happens: http://i.imgur.com/phYRi.png">http://i.imgur.com/phYRi.png

My firewall is off, I'm connected straight to the NAS with a regular cable (Not crossover).

Thanks for your help so far.

davo

Looks like your Nas is directly connected to the PC. set the IP of your PC to 169.254.188.100 and make sure you can ping 169.254.188.238.

If you can ping .238 then you should be able to update the firmware
