Another new firmware (1.34) is available for LS-WXL. Another firmware that doesn't work as a DLNA server. I am going to downgrade to 1.24 which is the only one that gives an operational MediaServer. What are you doing at Buffalo ?

I would recommend contacting your regional support.  We are primarily US and Canadian tech support.  Furthermore, you've started a thread without explanation as to what you're trying to accomplish or with what for that matter.  Posting "it doesn't work" isn't very helpful.

Dustrega, fair point, but nevertheless I believe there are currently at least 4 threads going that have many people including myself contributing to their experiences and problems and with minimal tech support forthcoming it can be quite frustrating. I myself experienced the US tech support as quite poor. I have received more help from these forums and Jotin and yourself, which I am appreciative of. However, the most recent upgrade to the firmware still doesn't resolve the issues we are all facing so it is worth a a bit of a bitch/moan/complain in my book.

Tank you mbnichois. I'm french and I'm affraid that my english is very poor. When you click the link for 1.34 Changelog.txt you get Changelog for 1.33 ...

I give you fair argument mbnichols however there is a problem.  We don't support/debug overseas firmware and for good reason because we're not UK/China/Japan tech support.  The user here is French and wishes us to fix a problem that we do not have control over.  Furthermore, we are trying our best to support the US along with minor problems that may arise in units that are not within our jurisdiction.  When it comes to firmware we can only forward a bug report which has already been done to another nation.  As to what's being done here, if we have acknowledged the problem as I have stated in the General FAQ clearly stating if a problem has been addressed then we are working on it if a solution isn't readily available.  Also, the problems you may experience with your NAS device here may differ completely from that overseas and I will not have this forum turned into a flame war because of a bit of complaining/moaning.  This is not up for discussion.

Final point before you can close the thread.

Firstly I would like to reiterate that I personally fully appreciate the time and effort you & your fellow mods give to these for helping us users out. The information I find on here is so much more valuable than what I have received from Tech Support over the phone.

Nevertheless, and to be fair I'm making some assumptions here, but I'm sure that all of the products (at least the same model) are manufactured in the same location, i would therefore assume that the firmware is also developed in a singular location and therefore the updates for this firmware is also done in a single location otherwise you could have each region entirely diverging across firmwares, making the tech support even more difficult. At the same time it is only possible to provide regional tech support.

Having said that, I would expect that firmware updates/change requests are going to a central place and although you are not directly supporting us (since I recently moved from US to Switzerland and prefer not to speak with german speaking techs) it is important that regardless of our locations we give the feedback to ensure these updates are made.

At the end of the day though, we all want the same thing. :) we want our stuff to work as designed and you want the same thing for us I'm sure. :)

Thanks for your patience and I along with others will also try to be patient while we wait for your colleagues to fix the DLNA thingy.

mbnichols you're more than welcome and I appreciate the maturity and respect that you have shown on this forum.  Honestly, this is lacking from a handful of other users and it can be difficult to get our point across.  You are correct in your assumption of the device manufacturing however, the firmware argument is the same that it is specific to each region.

Example: A user purchases their device from Japan and can't read or speak Japanese, of course this doesn't make sense but, said user can't just download the firmware from the US website and force a flash.  Firmware for each specific region is coded and distributed individually (i.e. you won't be able to get US firmware to work with a Japanese unit) as the hardware IDs and specifications can differ (hardware revisions, etc.)

This is something that just can't be helped and though you may not want to speak with a German tech but they are, in fact, the ones in charge of getting the bug reported and fixed in the firmware that works with your unit.  Of course I want your product to work for you because at the end of the day that's when it counts hence why we forward the bugs that overseas end users experience over to their respective region rather than say, "Sorry, call your regional tech support and deal with them"  I appreciate the patience that all of our users exhibit in getting firmware bugs fixed and your continued patronage to all factions of our company.  Sincerely, thank you and please feel free to post anything that you may find that needs addressing. :)
