I cannot find any information on the site for this unit.  No user manuals, no firmware or navigator software, which I find odd..

But anyways im glad i found these forums, hopefully I can get some help.

In a nut shell, I want this unit to store data, and then I want to map it to a computer using iSCSI, and then using an ftp client such as filezilla set up ftp access.  Currently the unit can support FTP from within my network, but I need it to access outside the network too which is seems to not be able to.

Now I just deleted the raid and im about to try and rebuild it, but usually on NAS devices when you build a raid you tell it that you want it to be iSCSI, but all this says is "Build raid".  If someone could show me the link on the site for this product I would really appreciate it.

Heres some info I found on the device.

All the front says (besides the LCD layout) is

Terrastation

the back tag has the following info on it:

MODEL: HS-DH0.0TGL/R5

S/N: U70802

Thanks

It's a Terastation Live

Thats nice :-)

In a nut shell, I want this unit to store data, and then I want to map it to a computer using iSCSI, not possible the unit is not an iSCSI device and then using an ftp client such as filezilla set up ftp access.  Currently the unit can support FTP from within my network, but I need it to access outside the network too which is seems to not be able to. If it is working internally on your local network then the ftp server is working fine, you will need to forward port 21 to the IP of the Terastation and then use your WAN IP/dyndns address to access it from outside your network.

Now I just deleted the raid and im about to try and rebuild it, but usually on NAS devices when you build a raid you tell it that you want it to be iSCSI, what??!?! as said this is not an iSCSI unit and will never be supported with this protocol as it has been discontinued but all this says is "Build raid". normal  If someone could show me the link on the site for this product I would really appreciate it. http://www.buffalo-technology.com/support/downloads/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://www.buffalo-technology.com/support/downloads/ => Terastation Live

Thanks so much! I finally got the thing working.  It turned out my school never added the exception into their firewalls even though they had repeatedly told me that they had.

But next thing I would like to accomplish with this thing is encryption.  Can this thing do sftp? or encryption with SSH?  And if so how would I go about this.  thanks!

Dustrega

There is no SFTP support for this model of device.  SSH is also the same case unfortunately, however you can add root level folder restrictions via the NAS web settings :)

ICANSEEYOU7687

meh, im  not worried about authentication or the handshake, im just worried about the actual data being transfered haha.  Thats what I need encrypted.  But thanks for the answer! I appreciate it!

You're more than welcome anytime. :)
