I just only bought a 2TB Drivestation (Model HD-CE2.0TU2-AP) and managed to delete the CDFS partition using Windows' Disk Management program (under Administrative Tools -> Computer Management) and reformat the entire drive. (So now it's a single whole partition - 1.81TB) Before that, I copied out whatever software I could see on the drive.

Now,  is it possible to restore the drive to its factory settings? I've read this article:

http://www.buffalotech.com/knowledgebase/users/kb.php?id=10248&category_id=7&sid2=" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://www.buffalotech.com/knowledgebase/users/kb.php?id=10248&category_id=7&sid2=

but what's the "software install program"? I downloaded the factory software from the link provided but it didn't restore the drive to factory settings, and the software I backed up from the drive clearly doesn't either.

Anyone can help? I miss the DriveNavi splash screen that popped up whenever I plugged it in...

Hmmm correct me if im wrong but i though the HD-CETU2 was only a standard USB disk, no default encryption and hense no CDFS. Is it possible you got your model number wrong?

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

Oh, but it did. When I first got it and plugged it in, it turned up as 2 drives - one a normal HD, the other under the CD/DVD group (which would clearly indicate CDFS). Plus the initial splash screen had two large buttons on it, one of which was the Securelock application.

Where did you attempt the install of the application you downloaded from the KB?

terradune

Exactly as the kb said - I unzipped it directly onto the drive, and ran it.
