received my linkstation ls-ch1 EVERYTHING is slow

Just bought my Linkstation 1tb LS-CH1.0tl off Amazon and everything is slow.  I  hard wired to my router.  (Sky router Netgear DG834GT) and my PC is also hard wired via network power plugs. and trasnfer of files is slow.  A 300mb file would take over an hour if I left it.  Okay I am using these network powered plugs so thought that may be the problem so decided to take my buffalo 1tb usb external drive and connect that directly to the link station and that is just as slow if not slower.  Surely a usb connection to the linkstation should be just as fast transfer as my buffalo usb 1tb?  Is there some setting that I have not checked?

Have you tried connecting directly from Linkstation to the PC and do a direct transfer to see if it is same speed as connected to router?
