Linkstation HD-H300LAN -- attempt to renew firmware failed

I have a HD-H300Lan linkstation.  I recently discovered some corrupted music files on it.  So I deleted all my files (I have backups), and tried to do a full disk scan.  The disk scan did not work—the disk-full led would flash forever and my browser connect to it would be lost.  So I tried to update the firmware from version 1.44 to 1.47.  The update seemed to go fine until the final popup said the attempt to renew the firmware failed.  Now I apparently have no firmware.   (The IP utility says I have firmware version 3.0, which is impossible given that I had 1.44 and was upgrading to 1.47.)   The linkstation does show up when I log into the router and responds to a ping.  But I cannot connect to the linkstation's IP address using my browser, and it does not show up in my Windows network, perhaps because is has no workgroup assigned.

Any suggestions?

If a FW update failed you can try to force the FW on, since the unit is still "reachable" per say via router and ping, you should be able to follow a force firmware on the unit.  Walkthru as follows http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/FAQ-2-of-4-Force-Firmware-update-procedure-please-read-this/td-p/11011" rel="nofollow" target=_blank>http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/FAQ-2-of-4-Force-Firmware-update-procedure-please-read-this/td-p/11011

Thanks for the suggestion.  I cannot follow the force firmware update instructions because the zip package for my firmware update does not include the "NASupdater application".  I had difficulty finding the firmware from withing the buffalo site and had to find the link using google.   The package I downloaded was HD-HLAN_FW147.   I did another google search today, and got a link to a different package that is older firmware than I had (HD-HGLAN_142); it also does not include the "NASupdater application".

I tried installing version1.42 firmware and the software was not able to find a linkstation on my network.  The 1.47 firmware install is able to find a linkstation, but the firmware update fails.
