Remote default share is missing

Have a HD-H250LAN and running Vista.  Tried to download all client aps and cant connect to it.  Newest client ap gives message saying "remote default share is missing".  I can connect to it from an IP address and from "RUN" \\LINKSTATION with password but cant get to the files.  Can see the folders in the interface but no way to open them that I know of.  HELP.  Lost everything in a Windows SP2 update.
