Hello,

I have just bought a Linkstation Live 1.5 TB NAS drive. I am new to using and setting up NAS drives. I have got the drive set up ok in my house, I want to be able to access the files remotely over the internet.

I have tried tonight using my netbook as I am away from home, I typed the IP address of the Drive into my URL bar, 192.168.X.X but I got a no response reply saying the address coud not br found.

Am I doing this the wrong way? If I am how to access the drive remotely?, the user guide doesn;'t say how to access the drive remotely just how to do the settings.

In the setup screen most time upnp needs to be disabled and the port manually assigned to 9000.  at which point the router would need port 9000 properly forwarded within its interface.  To verify that port 9000 is open there are sites that will help you such as http://canyouseeme.org/" rel="nofollow" target=_blank>http://canyouseeme.org/ If you are using DNS settings you will need to verify that the address is correct.  If using buffalonas.com make sure that you are typing the name of your NAS device properly.
