RAID is not a replacement for a backup! Here's why.

I have an old LinkStation Quad and one of the drives failed.

I replaced the bad drive with a new drive of the same capacity by the same manufacturer (but a different model).

Everything looks like it's working properly and the unit was able to rebuild the raid5 array. I have used the web interface to run the raid checking and drive checking several times and it comes back as everything working properly. However the red LED on the front of the drive is on and the red error indicator for the drive is lit. Both lights are on constantly, no blinking.

Could it be a problem that the web interface won't find? Is there anyway to find out what the unit thinks the problem is?

It looks like the error code is stuck.  Go to maintinece>initilization>restore.  This will reinitilize the unit and set it back to defaults.  You will lose the User Configs.  It will not affect the data.

No good. The lights are still on. I just noticed that the drive is a TeraStation not a LinkStation.
