Hello,

I've been running the linkstation for a few years now no significant problems.  I started getting the four blinking LEDs and noticed the fan wasn't running. I tried using sewing machine oil to lube the fan but didn't work. Now, I've removed the drive from the linkstation, and using an SATA bridge got my Mac to recognize that it was connected, but I guess it's not formatted properly????  Anyway, I originally set the NAS up on a PC but had the Mac accessing it for quite some time, through a direct ethernet connection.  Now, can you tell me is there any way for me to retrieve the info on this drive? I'm quite sure that it's not "bricked" I just have to get the computer(s) talking to the drive.  Any help would be much appreciated, and please let me know if I can provide any further information to resolve this!!!

Many, many thanks....

Chris

Boot up a copy of Ubuntu.  That's what I've had to do the other day (although I hate LInux, I'm a Windows man).  To get access to my LS-500GL drive because the unit has stopped working but the drive is fine.

Oh I took the drive out the unit and connected the drive with a USB housing.
