I've had this external drive for about 2 years.  Its an HD-HC250IU2.  I don't know what firmware is used, unless you mean Memeo.  About a month or so ago it just disappeard off my drive list.  I have a Dell Dimension E510 with Windows XP Media Center.  The drive used to be shown as the K:\ drive, but no longer is found.  Power is on and the Memeo software launched fine, but would give a message indicating it could not find the destination drive.  Contacted the Memeo people, who indicated it didn't sound like a problem with their software, but we updated that to the newest version anyway, and the same results.  The drive has the green light indicating it is ready and, as I understood the guide, it isn't full or close to full.  It hasn't been disturbed and the area is kept clean and relatively dust-free.

It sounds like the drive has gone bad or is going bad and part of the MBR or partition has been damaged.  If this is the case a replacement drive or unit is necessary.

That's what I was thinking.  So, the chances of getting the files from the drive are pretty close to nill, I'm betting...

Thanks for your response!
