I recently bought a HD-PXU2 ministation 500GB and been trying to enable the turbousb utility. However, the virtual rom seems to be unable to appear for me to access. At first my computer shows that the driver for the virtual rom is successfully installed but only the mass storage device appear and the the virtual rom went missing. I've restarted my com and the results still the same. I've also search through the google and this forum but still unable to find the suitable solution for this (maybe there is a solution out there and I miss it, I'll be glad if someone link me there)

My computer specs, etc:

- Toshiba satellite m200

- Windows Vista Basic

- Previous HD-PFU2 ministation 320GB works perfectly fine for me

*Do inform me if I have not state enough information to help solve the problem. Thanks in advance.

-- UPDATE 1/5/2010 --

Here's a more detail information of the problem:

"BUFFALO Virtual Cdrom USB Device" should have automatically installed and run normally for normal situation right? I look through the device manager and it shows the device is not installed and I have to manually install the driver myself everytime I plug in the USB [using the option provided "Locate and install driver software (recommended)"]. After the installation, a pop up message states that the software for the device is successfully installed, however the device manager shows that it is only recognized as "other devices". I right-click on it and look at the properties under the general section, device status shows as below:

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

Access is denied.

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

Now, I'm still stuck and cracking my head to find a solution to this. Anyone has a suggestion for the next course of action?

Have you tried downloading the Windows based utility from http://www.buffalotech.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.buffalotech.com ? You should try to just run the set up CD for the product to get the original CDFS image to reappear and keep the drivers installed on your system.  Worse case scenario you could just format the entire drive in a FAT32 or NTFS format and just utilize it as an external device.

Thanks for the suggestion. However I'm from malaysia and the region do not list out the downloadable utilities for HD-PXU2 series (only PXTU2 available but I'm not sure if this would work on my model).

Base on your suggestion, I try focusing on getting the driver install correctly and somehow the idea of installing in safe mode pops up in my head. Voila, this method works for me. It seems that a certain softwares or registry files been blocking or disrupting the installation process. In safe mode where only essential system is running, I'm able to install the driver correctly and the ministation now works as it should be and no problem up till now. Thanks for your suggestion earlier or else I may not be able to think of this method. ^^
