Linkstation Live - Web Access Restrictions! Frustrating to say the least!!!!!!!!!

I want to enable web restrictions ONLY for web access and NOT when accessing a share via a local PC but I cant seem to be able to do this?

 

If i enable restrictions then my Sonos music system cant access the share locally as it has to authenticate.

 

I just want restrictions on web access via FTP.

 

My olde linkstation hd300LAN  worked fine until the disk died but the 'new' live version doesnt seem to offer secure ftp access using usernames / restrictions....

 

Any ideas?

Not possible. The FTP restrictions-both local and remote- are shared with the normal smb/afp set via the interface. My suggestion to you would be to break up the shares so you can secure them that way.

Well after creatign 2 users and settign the restrictions the device has now locked up completely and wont even let web admin access.  i havent even changedthe web admin password.

 

Ive logged this but the standard answer of pressign function button and then a firmware upgrade does nothing.

Im not the only one who has suffered this lockout problem either judging by your forum.  why not fix the root cause and have a simple reset button like many other manufactuers do!

 

So how do you suggest i recover my data when the suggestio of pressing function key whilst booting and the firmware upgrade does not work?
