HS-DH500GL in EM Mode, just a question

I tried to flash my HS-DH500GL from 2.11 to 2.21 firmware lastnight. In the process of doing so i received the ACP error covered in FAQ #2 on this site. Not thinking when i tried to initial flash to 2.21 from my Windows 7 box i did it over Wifi without disabling antivirus/firewall software. After the flash the NAS goes directly into EM mode, it is still discoverable via the NAS Navigator utility.  I also have a Ubuntu 10.4 box should i need to extract the data from the drive.

My question is for the Force Firmware process, the NAS can remain wired on the network and flashed that way right? or do i attach the NAS to my Win7 box via USB and force the flash?

Thanks

Your assumption is correct you can leave the NAS connected to the network.  A direct connection shouldn't be necessary unless eliminating problematic network variables.

After making all the changes in the EM force flash FAQ to the ini file, after i run it in debut mode the flash app just turns grey, it's still responsive meaning i can quit or right click in the window but thats it.

I have tried connected to the HS-DH500GL via wireless, wired into the network, and connecting the cat5 from the NAS to my laptop. I have also turned off Microsoft Security Essentials and disabled windows firewall on all connections, any other suggestions? I have Windows 7 64bit.

I'll take a look into this and post back what I can find.

I took a look at the firmware and setup the Debug mode and all and couldn't find an issue on a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit machine.  No application errors or anything and the application was responsive.  I would suggest re-downloading and modifying the firmware again as well as checking into any possible firewall issues.  Wish I could help more but I couldn't reproduce the problem. :robotsad:
