Hello, I bought a second hand NAS (LS-QVL) only to find out it don't work properly.

It boots up and flashes 6 red light because the drives are not configured.
I can't see the NAS on the network, NASnavigator doesn't see it.

I can't turn it off with the power button.

I've seen this issue on the is forum but no responses , I hope someone can help me here.

Thanks

Ron

It's flashing 6 times because there is no OS / boot image on the unit.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

I have the firmware images extracted, using linux I created a 512mb partition formatted as ext3 with an inode of 128.
I tried to copy the firmware image onto drive #1 but after many attempts i couldn't get the files to the drive(in a buffalo folder). I noticed that after a reboot the drive was still empty (except for the lost+found folder)
I then tried to format it as fat32 copied the files to a buffalo folder but it still didn't work.

Can anyone shed some light on what I'm doing wrong?

I have not made any progress and would really like to get this NAS working.

I have been able to get the files successfully on the drive in a buffalo folder.
I have tried to place just initrd.buffalo and uImage.buffalo, also renaming uImage-88f5182.buffalo to uImage.buffalo having initrd.buffalo and uImage-88f5182.buffalo to no avail.

there is also a file uImage-lsp.5.x.buffalo in the firmware but I never seen this mentioned in the re-installation instructions.

Each time I boot I still get the LED flashing 6 times.

Can anyone provide any insights?

Thanks

A little update, I have managed to get the NAS to communicate with the TFTP Server.

It served up the files uimage.buffalo and initrd.buffalo and then nothing happens, I tried to go into the TS updater but the NAS isn't recognized.

What am I missing?

Thanks

Ron

You used the wrong uImage, The lsp one is what you want

Yes, I figured this out last night. I'm now able to see the NAS in NAS navigator in EM mode.
when I use LSupdater it formats the drive but says format failed at the end. I don't see any log files, how can I found out what caused the fail?

Thanks

How many disks do you have inserted and is it an LS-QVL or an LS-QVL-E?
