After Power Outage - Fan Problem

Recently enjoyed a somewhat short power outage (at least based on power company predictions). After power restored, I enjoyed the task of going around the house to reset those items that do not reset automatically.

I have a LinkStation Model LS-500GL. Yes, I know it is old, but it still works. However, after completing my power back on reset tasks, I received an error on the LinkStation. According to the owner's manual, I have a "fan problem." Yes - those are the direct words in the owners manual. A quick look at the back of the device did verify the fan was not spinning.

Now, the question is how to fix or replace the fan. Is this something I could perform or a repair shop like Geek Squad could repair?

Thanks for any advice.

A bit late I know but I am only returning since I have more devices here again :D

Just looked that unit up, yep, its old all right!

I DOUBT a big box computer store like BestBuy would do it, or maybe they would for $$$$

If I find something I cannot do myself, or if a customer is in a different area then I am at the time, I typically recommend hitting google maps and looking around for local computer repair shops, much like BestBuy's Geek Squad they have their history of being crap and "copying" data, but sometimes the people working there are tinkerer's and like the challenge of repairing old tech.

Outside of that, if you can still access the data, id recommend backing it up and just replacing it, its a security nightmare if ever exposed to the internet, and if a computer on your local network is compromised it can be used as a platform to spread (not that any other system cant, but the older the better for the jackwaggons).

None-the-less, always cool to see these old units still kicking around after 15-23years, replaced an old 2004 model with IDE drives a few years back as it finally died and the customer finally agreed to buy a replacement, money well spent I guess.
