Hello.

Every few seconds my HS-DHTGLD6B Buffalo RAID system will make a clicking sounds while it show accessing drive #1.

Does this indicate that perhaps drive # 1 may be failing or simple accessing the operating system?

This system is design which the operating system completed stored on one of the drive right? Is this normal when the Buffalo system access that particular drive for the operating system or a bad hard drive?

Thanks for your help.

"Does this indicate that perhaps drive # 1 may be failing or  simple accessing the operating system?"

Are you having any issues with the unit.  Generally the clicking will only happen once a HDD dies not right before it happens, but it is possible that it is dying.  How audible is the clicking.  Is it a definative click or could it be the HDD spinning up?

"This system is design which the operating system completed stored on one  of the drive right?"

Most of the firmware is stored on the drives so you will get disk activity during boot.

The sound is very audible and it kind of sounds like the hard drive's arm slamming into the side of the hard drive.  I will sit by my computer for hours and with this sound. It is a continuous problem, not just a start up problem.

All the 4 light flash until the clicking sound happens in which only " drive 1" .

It sound like from your response that it is mostly likely a problem with the hard drive rather than reading the operating system?

Thanks!
