Hi, I recived my Linkstation today and because it was a refurbished one it didn't have any manual or cd's and was unable to get the drive working, so I downloaded the applications, and noticed that when I ran the Navigator 2 software It found my drive but the model name seem to be diffrent it was called "HS-DHGL-EMC0E" and the icon had a question mark beside it.

I proceeded to right click on the icon and a message appeared saying that it was stuck in EM mode, and may need updating so went and got the latest version of the update and the application failed to even start( think it may be something to do with windows 7), so then thought I'd try an older version I did and this time the application loaded and showed me the following

HOST: HS-DHGL-EMC0E

WORKGROUP: UNKOWN

IP-address: 192.168.11.150

Subnet: 255.255.255.0     FIRMWARE : -----

MAC: {hidden}

so then clicked update and got the following

Couldn't confirm response from HS-DHGL-EMC0E.

please check as network address of both PC and HS-DHGL-EMC0E

please disable firewall function if it is working on PC

updating abortred.

I then changed the computer network cards address to coincide with the nas drive

192.168.11.151

255.255.255.0

but this still gave back the same message

I've tried using the force method as well, I'm out of luck can someone help me?

With that static IP setting, it should work. Try directly connecting to it. Make sure any firewall software is disabled.

If that still doesn't work, try running the update from an XP or Vista machine. As that is an older unit, the firmware updater was not written for Win7. You might also try running the update in XP compatibility mode (right click the Updater.exe, properties, look in the tabs for the Compatibility mode section).

Can you provide additional information? What does not work about it?
