When I connect to my Linkstation from the web, I have access to my files, folders. ok.

But I am only able to download one file at a time!  For example I have pictures sorted into folders on the Linkstation. I want to select an entire folder of pictures to download, but I cannot. I can only select a picture one by one to download. This function will take me hours to do!

What is the workaround for this??????

Unfortunately there isnt a work around.  You can only do it one file at a time.

if you know in advance what files- put it in a archive.

FTP is a little difficult to set up but this would work.

I have Smart FTP. How do I configure it for the Linkstation?

Are you saying I could either "archive" the files OR use FTP? Or do you mean archive AND use FTP?

Thanks

HI,

What I'm saying:

1. the quick way is make a zip file for the files you need here and there.

2. It is a AND/OR. you can use both and combine as you like.

3. Smart FTP is a client you need to setup after the LinkStation setup is done.

4. rough guide to use FTP

To make the router accessible from internet you need a static IP. If you don't have one from your ISP you need to configure dynamic DNS with a Service. There are plenty who offer this basic function for free. DynDNS and TCO are some popular ones supported by many routers. You check the router first and register with one of the services. After setting this up on the router the device is reachable with a name you choose. Next is forward the port 21 from outside to the LinkStation IP. (enabling UPnP might do the job as well)

On the LinkStation you need to enable the FTP service and enabling the FTP option in the folder options.

Now you can use smartFTP from everywhere with the host name you choose (for example name.dyndns.org) and the user name and password.
