I plan to sell the old linkstation and want to wipe the two hard drives with dBan. If I do that, will I delete all the OS and make the linkstation unusable? Or does the OS reside inside the hardware and it will just reformat the new drives?

I updated title but don't know if it is any clearer. dban is a free software that can wipe hdd clean.
After searching the forum, it looks like the nas os is in the drives for my linkstation pro duo.
I found an article that actually seems helpful.
