I've seen people on here have upgraded to 4x1.5TB drives. Any reason I can't go for 4x2TB drives?

What rev of Firmware do i need to support this? I'm on 2.14

PCPiranha

The largest that has been tested here is 4 TB but 8 TB may be possible.  The firmware version doesnt matter so 2.14 should be fine.

When installing in a NAS does drive speed make a big difference? 5400 RPM drives are cheaper that 7200RPM and with 100MB/s max over a 1Gbps ethernet, is there any benefit from paying extra for a 7200RPM drive?

I have decided to go with the WD green drive but I read it has the new 4kB sector size. Is this going to work with my NAS?

PCPiranha

Never tried them personally,  someone started a list of drives they tested a while back though, but I cant seem to find it for some reason.

I am about to go for the exact same WD20EARS drives which have the new 4k sector stuff. Did you get these drives and did everything work? If not then what did you get in the end?

Thanks,

Nick :)

Did you ever try this and get it to work?  Thinking about doing it myself with WD20EARS

JoshC

They should work as long as there not the Caviar Green Eco drives.  Those are the only drive's that ive seen have a problem.
