Linkstation stopped showing mp3 files on Media player

I have a Linksys kiss 1600 media player and a Linkstation Duo Nas Model number LS-WX2.0TL/R1 firmware 1.24

 

I dont have any problem with my KISS seeing the NAS, but having trouble seeing the mp3s. Originally I had no luck, but looked and found that I shouldn't have deleted the "Share" folder. I put this back and transferred my music into this folder and everything was working fine and mp3s were playing.

 

Now I cannot see any files on my media player, the linkstation is found, but it looks like there is no database for the files.

 

I keep getting an error  message : "Whilte firmware updating, Media Server update can not be updated completely. Please click 'Restart Media Server' button after establishing Internet Connection.

 

I have had this NAS about a week, within the 1st day it had gone into EM mode and I had to reflash the firmware.

I may have found the cause or it may be a coincidence.

 

I checked my media player for the files immediately before and after doing this change:

 

I looked at the time and date settings in the Nas and they were wrong. Edited it with a manual setting using local date and time and immediately the mp3 files and folders were visible on my media player.

 

The wrong date and time was somewhere in 2006. Dont recall the month/day etc...

Still working. Have not rebooted NAS to see if time settings disappear yet. 

 

Does anyone know why this date setting would cause an issue?
