I cannot backup to my linkstation, everytime I try I get a message asking to check that I am still connected to the network.

I have created a new folder to try to backup to that but that doesn't work.

I am able to view files that I have on the drive. The disk is 500GB in size and has about 125GB of info on it so it's not full.

I have the latest firmware installed.

Ok, sorry about that lack of info.

It is a linkstation LS-CH500L using firmware version 1.07.

I am using Windows Vista and the error message is. There is a problem accessing "file name" Make sure you are connected to the network and try again.

I am connected to the network as I can access my files using the T.V., Xbox 360, Ipod touch and web access.

My router is a Netgear DGN200B

The file size is 42KB word document.

Hope this info helps.

Just need to check how are you backing up to the Linkstation.

Thru the network by just copying & pasting or using a backup software like Memeo?

Check if that file which cannot be backup is being use or in use by your computer.

I have tried to copy and paste which gave the above error message, memeo seems to be working although it has displayed the following message.

Error Code: 8

Additional Info: The specified network name is no longer available.

Memeo AutoBackup was unable to store this file because the backup destination rejected it. This may indicate that the file type was not supported by the backup destination.

The file was a .ppt file which have backed up in the past and memeo is sending .doc files to the backup. I have tried restoring files using memeo and this also works.

The file I originally tried was not being used by any other program.

Many thanks.

When you did the copy + paste, did you paste to a mapped share folder?  Try going into the run command and just typing in "\\IP" and paste it into the share.
