Multiple logins to shares not possible?

I've seen this type of issue a few times in various forms but have not seen a comprehensive (if one exists) solution to the problem.

I have two shares on my linkstation. One is the default share "share" with the login credentials admin: Password A  and another share "friends" with login credentials Friend: Password B.  Both shares have restrictions that allow certain users and groups to access.  I can access the friend share without issue from multiple PCs and via the web GUI. But the "share" share will simply not connect. I receive the message that multiple logins to a share is not possible....

I have removed any mapping to both shares and also have manually disconnected the network connection to both using "net use /delete" from the command prompt.

I've also seen posted that to access two or more shares they have to have the same login credentials which defeats the ability of having multiple shares available for multiple users.

Oddly, i can access the browser setup page with the admin credentials but accessing the "share" folder balks when I attempt to open it.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

EDIT

Tried the reinitialization option in the Maintenance tab of the Browser Config. After restoring all defaults i was able to access all folders. But after reapplying the login credentials for both folders only the "friend" folder is accessible again.

The admin user is only for accessing the web interface.  You need to use users that you have created in "user management " for web access.  Probably the reason friends is working but share is not.  Also it is true that you cannot be logged in as multiple users on a single computer.

For instance if the user (created in user management) "administrator" has "password A" and he has access to both "Friends" and "share", and user "Friends" with "Password B" and they have access to only "Friends" and you map "Friends" with the "Friends" user then you won't be able to access share, even with "administrator" credentials.  Now if you mapped "share" with "administrator" then anyone (even someone you may not want) using that computer will have access to "share".

I know it is a little confusing so I hope this clears things up a little.

Yeah, it kinda makes my head hurt. So what i gather is that due to a Windows limitation you cannot have multiple logins to a single NAS that have different credentials. But the workaround is to give all the shares the same login if you want to utilize restrictions. Kinda like giving everyone in an apartment building the same key.

So I'll keep restrictions on just one folder that i like to have web access to and leave the others without restrictions. Not ideal but at least i understand. sort of.
