LS220D21E resynchronizing for more than 3 days

Any ideas what maybe going on here..? its 4Tb split in two 2Tb disks.. LED code is i17 resynchronizing.. but why so long? and meanwhile I can't use it, file transfers through windows explorer timeout..!

10 days gone and still resyncing...

I restarted the NAS, it went straight back into resync..
IF there is a FAULTY hdd, which one.? how to tell?

If you pull the front cover off it might show a red light next to the bad one's number.

I think NasNavigator can tell you....if it knows.

If you connect via the command line mdadm can tell you for sure.

Hi there... thanks for the prompt reply.. no lights inside to help the situation..
thinking I'll make a backup and do a reformat of both disks..
would that indicate which is failing..?

Mdadm could tell you which one is trying to resync, that may or may not actually mean a failing disk but it is likely.

SMART data can provide some insight, if one of the drives has a bunch of reallocated/pending sectors it is on its way out

Glad to report that after a complete reset, reformat and resync of both disks the errors are not reappearing... it's been a couple of weeks now and it's behaving itself... still don't know which disk was causing the "error".!
