HD-CEU2 DriveStation formatting question

I am in a need of a storage device to copy 4GB+ sized files from my computer.  I was told (not verified myself yet though) that if the USB drive is formatted as FAT32, it can only accept less than 4GB sized files.  But that restriction is no longer applicable for drives formatted as NTFS.

My question is if I purchase this DriveStation, would I have any problem copying a file that is, say, 6 GB from my computer?  And of course the other question is can this device be formatted using NTFS?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

As per my knowledge there is only default file system XFS and we can't change it.

If we can  change it to NTFS then we could also manage the Quota management right ? I have googled lot for this but no success man.

We need to use NAS with this pain. :womansad:

Nishant, Thanks for your input. I thought only LinkStations and TeraStations used XFS format and this DriveStation used FAT32.

I found this thread on this site which discusses similar problems:

http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/Drivestation-NTFS-NAS-issues/td-p/9909" target="_self">LINK

The bottomline, it seems, is I should not format this drive as NTFS.

Just checked the manual online and found what I was looking for.

It says "If you're going to use it with programs that generate filesizes larger than 4 GB, reformat the DriveStation as an NTFS drive (Windows), a Mac OS Extended drive (Mac), or an XFS drive (Linux)."

That was exactly what I was hoping this unit would do.
