SMBv1 Message

I have a Buffalo Link Station LS-500GL. Yes, I know it is a little old, but it still works great. I am using a Windows 10 Pro PC. Up to today, I have had no problems accessing the Link Station, other than a few times when there was a power glitch and I forgot to apply power to the link station again. However, today, I received the following message when trying to access the Link Station: You can't connect to the file share because it's not secure. This share requires the obsolete SMB1 protocol, which is unsafe and could expose your system to attack.

You would have to enable SMBv1 services in Windows 10. Copie the link below to your browser If you don't know how to do it. https://www.windowscentral.com/how-access-files-network-devices-using-smbv1-windows-10. I would advise you enable SMBv1/CIFS Server too.

Thanks. It sure takes quite a while to restart after making these changes. A couple more questions. The article talks about using this as a temporary work around. So I am assuming you are in agreement. That obviously means a new device since this once is "ancient" according to the new standards and is no longer supported by Buffalo Tech from an updating the firmware standpoint. I use this for backups and all those big files like videos and pictures.
