Terastation Pro TS-HTGL/R5 - Emergency Mode (TS-HTGL-EM68C / No Array Info)

Hi we have a Buffalo Terastation Pro II (TS-HTGL/R5) which has recently gone into EM or Emegency mode, is is also reporting that No Array Info is available on the units LCD display.

 

The problem was initially discovered when trying to access the devices GUI, I was un-able to browse to the web interface, I could however still access the share via Windows.

 

I tried re-booting the NAS, initially I received a cannot load the kernel message and after re-booting again the Kernel has appeared to have loaded albiet into the Emergency Mode, the unit still has the IP address that we assigned to it and can be pinged, but we are now un-able to access the web GUI or the share via Windows.

 

I have tried re-booting several time with no change, I have also tried updating the units firmware but the the TSUpdated.exe application reports that there are no units that require updating.

 

I have also tried doing carrying out the force firmware update procedure but the application just sits there saying accepting requests.....

 

Any Ideas?

I would try from multiple machines to see if you can do the tftp boot and or force firmware.  Make sure all antivirus programs along with firewalls are disabled on your computer, make sure to try it from vista,xp, win7 32 or 64bit os's if you have been trying to do this from a server.  If not you have a one year warranty.  Also you can try removing one disk at a time and try to boot up off of 3 drives to see if a corrupt drive is giving you this issue.  Try backing up your data and then do the 3 drives at a time and see if you can get in and try to flash firmware on the 3 drives and then replace the faulty drive and restructure the raid array.  Good luck.
