Hello everyone. I'm hoping someone has encountered this in the past and can point me in the correct direction. I tried searching the boards for this issue but came up empty-handed.

I have a Buffalo Linkstation LS-WTGL/R1 (1.0TB) NAS device here that I purchased a couple of years ago I suppose. We recently experienced a sudden power loss - which has happened in the past without incident - but since that event, I've run into several issues.

Most recently, I've been faced with the following error message: "System performance is now decreasing."  After multiple reboots and attempts to clear the issue I finally was able to delete RAID 1 array in an attempt to basically start over.

Fast forward to the present. I am now getting this error message when I sign into the management web console:

"Check RAID array 1.

Currently a Format or Disk Check is being carried out. During this time the LinkStation settings can not be changed. Also the file share service will not be available."

Nothing I do will resolve this issue or clear the error message. I was able to boot the device into EM mode and forcefully upgrade the firmware to version 1.09 from 1.00. Within a few minutes of the reboot following the upgrade the message presented itself again.

At this point, the device has been sitting in this state for the past two days with no change. TIA

It sounds like the device has gotten to a level of corruption that could be part of the drives or the shell.  Wish there was an ez fix for you.  If it was me I would take the ls pro duo apart (voiding a warranty if within that 1 year) (if it would be worth you time to take the drives out, format each by themselves and test them on a pc for bad sectors (as internal drives)  Then format each to raw again and put them in.  It sounds like there is an issue with a controller or the shell that is not serviceable.  Power outtages are the worst for our devices, ups's are a must for safety of the device and the data that is backed up to it.  Sorry we don't have any instructions for working on our ls pro duo's.  But a search on a couple of search engines should lead you to the right direct.
